I’m am always astounded by knitted and crocheted creations. A friend learned to crochet twelve months ago and now she is producing chunky knit baby blankets and rugs in striking colours. She made one for a friend in the shape of a Mod bullseye, it looked very cool. So imagine my reaction when I spotted this, a coral reef created from wool. The Crochet Coral Reef was created as part of a community arts project and is on display in the Manchester Museum.
Coral: Something Rich and Strange is an exhibition exploring the rich diversity of coral and it’s influence on the art scene as well as different cultures through the decades. It’s on until the 16th March 2014, with free admission. So why not have a paddle downtown and explore these beautiful under-sea creations. It’s worth a dip!
