Killer Views – Cloud 23 @ The Hilton, Manchester

View from Cloud 23 at the Hilton

The urban panoramas go, the view from the windows of Cloud 23 is pretty awesome. This luxurious city centre bar is situated at one of the highest points in Manchester, above the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate. Rising above the bar is Beetham Towers, an apartment block for those who like to sleep amongst the stars. Residents include local footballers and students with extremely wealthy parents.

Across the G Mex from the Hilton

We spent the morning swimming and steaming at the Hilton’s Living Well Health Club, before taking the swift lift from the Hilton’s Foyer up into the sky. In the afternoon Cloud 23 serves a range of teas, coffees, alcoholic and soft drinks, as well as afternoon tea. Needing refreshment my friend chose the aptly named Cloud 23 Nimbostratus tea, a citrus black tea blend. I fancied the Gypsy Caravan tea, a dark, smoky black tea.

The extensive cocktail menu offers delicious sounding cocktails with names inspired by Manchester’s heritage. Imagine sipping a Mr Mercer’s Cotton Peculiar or a Old Thom Henry’s Cherry Effervescent as the sun set across the city. The menu also offers classic cocktails, a huge array of spirits and champagne. Prices for champagne range from £12 for a glass of Pommery Brut NV to £450 for a bottle of Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades. Gulp.

Thankfully our two teas cost just short of a tenner, pricey but worth it for the stunning view.

Hilton Hotel and Beetham Towers, Deansgate

You can’t miss the Hilton Hotel as you come into Manchester, it is situated by Deansgate station or just a short stroll from Manchester’s Oxford Road. Close by is the Museum of Science and Industry, Castlefield and the designer shops of King Street. Look out for spa deals at the Hilton’s Living Well health club or try out the facilities with a free day pass, contact Living Well for more details.

      • I only got in after dark and with the security and the lift I was surprised our group got in at all! If you’re after good Manchester views I would recommend the guided tour up the Manchester town hall tower. Not sure if it runs all year round, but it was a fun hour once it got going.

  1. Haha, yes the lift was a bit shaky when we went! Okay, I’ll have to look out for the tour up Manchester Town Hall Tower. There’s some really good stuff going on in the city isn’t there? We popped into the Zion Arts Centre and the Whitworth on Friday. I’ve also recently discovered the International Anthony Burgess Foundation.
